Just like I rarely throw things away, I rarely throw away people. I may loose track of them, or move in a different direction, but never sever ties on purpose. With one exception. One person’s letters and gifts I threw away and burned. But then I found one that survived the purge. So I buried it under and among things that were healthier and more joyful: a ticket stub from the opening season of the WNBA, the program of a friend’s wedding, a random bridal consultant’s business card from when I was trying on dresses for my own wedding and gifts from someone who’s love for me was kinder and purer.
